Parliamentary Highlights

The true mark of a leader is the willingness to stick with a bold course of action — an unconventional business strategy, a unique product-development roadmap, a controversial marketing campaign

  • Parliament dissolved
  • Disaster preparedness and response remain a challenge for the Government of Uganda.
Sprawling chunks of the population across the country continue to suffer the debilitating
effects of calamities despite numerous interventions to increase the level of awareness
  • President Yoweri Museveni led a team of hundreds including veterans, youth and well-wishers in the symbolic trek code-named 'Africa Kwetu' covering almost 195km from Garamba in Wakiso district to Birembo in Kibaale district. The six-day trek flagged off Saturday covered seven districts of Wakiso, Nakaseke, Mityana, Kiboga, Kasandha, Mubende and Kakumiro. The walkers were among other things retracing routes that the National Resistance Army (NRA) fighters used during the liberation struggle.
  • The Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga suspended 25 Members of Parliament over chaos that marred this week’s age limit debate. She asked the MPs to exit the chambers immediately. A scuffle ensued when suspended MPs refused to vacate the House. Chairs, microphone stands and others items were broken.
