The brand became one of the hottest-selling items of the '90s and was relaunched in 2019. The BBC reports that global sales more than doubled between 2022 and 2023.

GOG.com has announced that the original version of Resident Evil 3: Nemesis will launch on the PC-based platform on September 25th.

The game launched on PS1 on September 22, 1999, and would be ported to PC the following year. It was remade for modern systems in 2020.

A new hack has just been released online that introduces the Star Fox 2 characters Miyu and Fay to the original Star Fox.

Miyu and Fay, in case you are unaware, are the two brand new recruits that joined the Star Fox team in the cancelled follow-up to Star Fox (which was eventually released via the Super NES Classic Edition in 2017). They resemble a lynx and a poodle respectively, and have since become popular characters among members of the fanbase despite having only ever appeared in a single game.

Sega is offering a salary of $100,000 and $130,000 a year for an "Archivist" role within the company, focusing mainly on documenting Sonic's history.

Over the weekend, Team17 have officially given the thumbs up to Project X: Light Years — a new follow-up to its 1992 horizontal shooter for Amiga that is currently crowdfunding on Kickstarter.

When the campaign's organizer, the "big Amiga fan" Retronix originally launched the project, it stated in the FAQ that it believed the project could go ahead without Team17 due to the name presumably no longer being trademarked due to the countless games called Project X on Steam and because of a belief that Team17 was unable to claim copyright on the project because of its use of generic traits associated with the shoot 'em up genre. Nevertheless, it claimed that it had been trying to reach out to the studio, to get explicit approval anyway and hadn't heard anything back yet in response.

If you're a fan of Wizardry, you may be familiar with the 7th game in the series Crusaders of the Dark Savant, which was originally released back in 1992 for DOS computers.

Famitsu has announced its data for estimated physical software sales from September 9th, 2024 to September 15th, 2024 for Japan, revealing that G-Mode's Hokkaido Serial Murder Case: The Okhotsk Disappearance ~Memories in Ice, Tearful Figurine~ for Nintendo Switch has managed to nab the top spot for the week.

The remake of Yuji Horii's 1984 Famicom ADV classic was released worldwide earlier this month across Nintendo Switch & Steam and has since gone on to sell 20,919 retail copies, according to Famitsu's estimations. This puts it ahead of popular titles like Astro Bot (in second place), Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (in third), and Nintendo Switch Sports (in fourth).

Sega's Japanese account has announced on Twitter that a new project based on its RPG series Rent-A-Hero is currently in development and scheduled for release next year.

But before you go getting too excited, it appears that the new game won't be a traditional follow-up, as many would hope. Update #3 : KOHACHI STUDIO Co., Ltd has announced that the Tenchu and the Way of the Samurai developer Acquire will co-develop the Metal Slug spiritual successor Black Finger Jet, helping to bring the game's mix of 2D-pixel art and 3D backgrounds to audiences.

Acquire has previous experience developing games that contain a mixture of 2D and 3D assets having previously worked on the Octopath Traveler series along with Square Enix Business Division 11, so this seems like a smart decision for the small team giving them some additional help to realize their aspirations for the project.
